How to Build a Korean Skincare Routine: A Step-by-Step Guide

The famous Korean skincare routine isn’t about owning ten products — it’s about layering the right steps in the right order, from the lightest texture to the richest. Here’s how to build a routine that actually works for your skin.

The core steps, in order

  1. Cleanse — In the evening, double cleanse: an oil cleanser to melt away sunscreen and makeup, then a gentle, low-pH water-based cleanser. In the morning, a single gentle cleanse is enough.
  2. Tone — A hydrating toner rebalances the skin and adds the first layer of moisture.
  3. Treat — Apply a serum or ampoule targeted to your concern: vitamin C for brightness, niacinamide for even tone, centella to calm, peptides and retinol to firm.
  4. Moisturise — Seal everything in with a gel cream or a richer cream, depending on your skin type.
  5. Protect — Every morning, finish with SPF50+. This is the single most important anti-ageing step.

Morning vs. evening

Mornings focus on protection (antioxidants + sunscreen). Evenings focus on repair — this is when to use exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) or retinol, on alternate nights, never both on the same night.

Start simple

If five steps feel like a lot, begin with the essentials: cleanser, toner, moisturiser and sunscreen, then add treatments as your skin adjusts. Our curated routine sets bundle the right products together so you don’t have to guess.

Listen to your skin

Introduce one new active at a time and give it a few weeks. Consistency beats complexity — a simple routine done daily will always outperform a complicated one you can’t keep up.
